The short version. Marquee is a small film-night app. There are no ads, no trackers, no
analytics, and nothing is sold or shared with advertisers. Most of what you do stays on your own device
unless you create a crew, which syncs so your friends can see it.
What is stored, and where
Data
Where it lives
Why
Your display name and avatar colour/picture
Your device. Name syncs to a crew if you join one.
So your crew knows who voted.
Email address
Firebase Authentication — only if you create an account.
Sign-in and account recovery. Crew members never see your email, only your display name.
Watchlist, votes, vetoes, ratings, chat messages, crew member names
Firestore, in a document addressed by your crew's invite code.
So everyone in the crew sees the same poll and watchlist.
Taste swipes (titles you loved or passed)
Your device.
To personalise recommendations.
Region preference, sound preference, daily-puzzle streak
Your device.
Settings and the daily game.
Discord webhook URL (only if you connect one)
Your device, and your crew's document so other members can post.
To post polls and trailers into your channel.
What is NOT collected
No analytics or tracking pixels. No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no session recording.
No advertising identifiers, and no data sold or shared with advertisers.
No location data. No contacts. No camera or microphone access.
No payment information — Marquee is free and takes no payments.
Who can see your crew data
A crew is addressed by its invite code. Anyone who has that invite link can open the crew and
see its member names, watchlist, votes and chat. Treat an invite link like a house key: share it only with
people you want in the crew. If a link leaks, delete the crew and start a new one — that changes the code.
Third parties
Google Firebase (Authentication + Firestore) — stores your account email and crew documents. Firebase privacy
TMDB — film and series data and artwork. Marquee queries TMDB from its own server; your browser loads poster images from image.tmdb.org. TMDB privacy
YouTube — trailer links open on YouTube; their terms apply once you leave.
Discord — only if you connect a webhook or use the Marquee bot in your server.
Hostinger — hosting. Standard server logs (IP address, request, timestamp) are kept by the host for operations and security.
Deleting your data
Device data (taste swipes, settings, avatar, local crews): Profile → your browser's "clear site data" for marqueee.fun removes all of it immediately.
A crew: the crew owner can delete it from the Crew page. That removes the shared document including chat, votes and watchlist for everyone.
Your account and email: email the address below and we will delete your authentication record and remove you from crews you belong to. We aim to action requests within 30 days.
Children
Marquee is not directed at children under 13, and accounts should not be created by them.
