청춘의 십자로 (1934) / Turning Point of the Youngsters (Cheongchun-ui sibjalo)

The oldest surviving Korean feature follows a farmhand cheated out of his fiancee and seven years of labour who leaves for Seoul and becomes a railway porter, while his sister drifts into the same city and into worse trouble. When their paths cross again, the man responsible for both their ruins gets the beating this silent melodrama has spent an hour building toward.
