자유만세(1946) / Hurrah! For Freedom (Ja-yumanse)

An independence fighter breaks out of a Japanese colonial prison in the final weeks before liberation and hides out with a nurse who loves him, while his underground cell tries to pull off one last armed uprising. Considered one of the earliest postwar productions about the resistance, it plays as a tense chase picture as much as a history lesson.
