In the mountains after the armistice, a shrinking band of communist partisans turns on itself through rape, murder and cover-up while one disillusioned fighter and a hardened woman soldier look for a way down alive. Lee Kang-cheon keeps the whole film inside the guerrilla camp, so the war arrives only as hunger, suspicion and the sound of the crackdown closing in.
