A war widow running a debt-ridden dress shop falls for the publishing executive who helps clear her books, only to learn he is engaged to his boss's daughter for the sake of his career. Even with her own grown daughter urging her to remarry, she sells the Seoul house and leaves quietly rather than break the engagement, and he reaches the station in time only to watch her train go.
