두고온 산하(1962) / Leaving the Fatherland ( Dugo-on Sanha )

In Soviet-occupied Hungnam on the eve of the Korean War, the daughter of a Russian officer falls for a young Korean anti-communist, and their affair frames a portrait of the occupation and of the northerners trying to get out. Lee Kang-cheon's film is openly a product of the South's anti-communist genre, which is a good part of what makes it worth watching now.
