A Marine squad fights its way from the Incheon landing through the frozen retreat from the Chinese offensive, adopting an orphaned girl they carry from battle to battle in an army duffel bag. Director Lee Man-hee stages the combat with a bluntness rare for the period, and the friendships the film spends two hours building are what make its final losses land.
