During the 1983 televised drive to reunite families split by the Korean War, a wealthy wife flashes back to the orphaned teenager she once was and the son she lost track of, then meets the man who fathered him still waiting for her three decades on. Im Kwon-taek stages the eventual meeting with their grown son as a disappointment as much as a resolution, since neither parent quite recognises the stranger their wartime child became.
