Betsy F-Cking Ross

Apprenticed to an upholsterer in Revolutionary-era Philadelphia, Betsy Griscom marries a jealous co-worker just as her sewing business starts to take off, and the film reimagines the flag-maker's myth with a wink and some backbone. It plays the well-worn history lesson for both comedy and a genuinely sharp point about a woman refusing to make herself small.
