Alex has spent her life translating between her deaf parents and the hearing world, a divide that follows her into dance class and a new romance with a deaf drummer she initially pretends to match by hiding that she can hear. Three deaf actors help ground the film as Alex finally folds American Sign Language into her own choreography to tell her story on her own terms.
